The Queensland Screen Industry Council aims to convene an annual forum to bring the Queensland industry together to share experiences, viewpoints and to work together to advance the Queensland industry.


The first forum, held on the 1st of November 2008, explored developing sustainable businesses and building the skills base. It also considered the councils strategic plan.


Queensland Screen Industry Council's 3rd Annual Forum entitled "The Market Now" was held on Saturday 28th August at The Glasshouse, QUT Creative Industries Precinct, Kelvin Grove.


The 4th QSIC forum called Thinking Outside The Box will be held at Griffith Film School on the corner of Dock and Vulture Streets, South Brisbane. The program is:


1.45 for 2pm start

2.00 - 2.20Keynote Address

2.20 - 2.45 Editor Mary Stephen in conversation with Prof Herman Van Eyken


2.45 – 3.45 Session 1 Getting it Up: How to fund your screen project without a screen agency (philanthropy, crowd funding, co-productions, etc)


3.45 – 4.15 Afternoon tea and networking


4.15 – 5.15 Session 2  If You’ve Got it, Flaunt it: Reaching audiences in the Digital Age


5.15 - 6.00 Plenary. Problems facing the Queensland Screen Industry and potential solutions, with introduction from Screen Queensland’s CEO Maureen Barron


6.00pm  Drinks on the deck


7.00pm Riverfire. End the forum with a bang! Exclusive viewing

Renowned for its stimulating debate and current thinking, the forum again will host a great lineup of local and interstate speakers. Entry is free.

Focus Groups

One outcome from the first forum was to hold occasional focus groups with council and key people or key subjects. The first of these, on distribution, was held in May 2009.
