QUEENSLAND SCREEN INDUSTRY COUNCIL |
The Queensland Screen Industry Council was formed as a result of the Film, Television and Digital Content Skills Formation Strategy (SFS) workshops held throughout 2007 and 2008 and supported by the Queensland Government. In 2006 the Queensland Government announced its support for the development of a Skills Formation Strategy in the film, television and digital content industry sectors. Work commenced on the strategy in June 2006. The strategy supports industry, government and the education and training sectors to work together to identify new solutions to business and workforce development issues in the Queensland film, television and digital content sectors. This may include new investment strategies, learning models, revised training products, new qualifications or better career planning and marketing campaigns. Skills formation strategies are long-term processes that align business strategy and workforce development through the collaborative action of industry, government and the education and training sectors. The strategy aims to improve sustainability in the film, television and digital content sectors in Queensland by ensuring strong linkages between industry development, education and training, and market demand. The project is an initiative of the Department of Employment and Training in partnership with the Pacific Film and Television Commission and the Department of Tourism, Industry and Regional Development.
