The Queensland Screen Industry Council (QSIC) formed in April 2008 to strengthen the sector and foster a productive relationship between government and industry.

The Queensland screen industry has been built on the flood or famine world of servicing offshore and interstate productions, the shrinking local outposts of our national broadcasters and an increasingly solid core of local drama and documentary production.

There is enormous change in our industry right now, presenting both opportunities and challenges.

For the first time, Queensland Industry professionals have come together to discuss building businesses, creating stronger employment, and improving education and training for the industry. QSIC aims to bring the Queensland industry together to network, to explore shared opportunities and to speak with a unified voice to Government.

The goals of the QSIC are to:

1.             Improve the industry through greater market success, capacity, and capability
2.             Expand the industry by increasing production, turnover and employment
3.             Promote awareness of the local screen industry

QSIC is currently working on a strategic plan for the industry to achieve these goals. Work on the plan commenced in July 2008 and Council will begin consulting with industry stakeholders on the plan November 2008.
